As part of the Great Big Green Week we asked residents to write Letters to Tomorrow, explaining their hopes for future generations if our leaders step up to protect the environment. This is what they had to say…
‘‘TO: Cary - my grandson - on your 18th birthday - 22nd of June 2039
I’m writing to you just before your 2nd birthday - 15th June 2023. I am hoping that now Brabazon is a thriving busy community. We came here when it was just starting, maybe 6 families here! Now we are seeing change, the park is planned & the community centre - both of which I am hoping you’ll know well! We have great hopes for our - and your - future here - and you will see it grow too! Maybe you’ll go to school here, whatever you do, I hope that me + grandpa will be around too. There are great plans for Brabazon, let’s hope they come through!
FROM: Grandma (Viv) with loads of love’’

‘‘TO: YTL
I have thoroughly enjoyed living in your development on Brabazon.
My partner and I are keen environmentalists and surfers. Since Brexit, the water quality in our nation’s rivers and seas has deteriorated at an appalling rate, to the point where it is becoming impossible to enjoy our environment without getting sick.
As stewards of Wessex Water PLEASE do more to clean our waterways, and STOP filling them full of poo for profit !
FROM: Henry Harris.’’

‘‘TO: Brabazon
It’s summer 2023. We are looking forward to more neighbours moving in over the next few months.
It’s been a great last 2 years getting to know each other and building this community.
We hope that it is a place where everyone is welcome and finds a place to call home.
Please keep loving and caring for one another.

‘‘TO: Brabazon Residents!
Make sure to flavour having good time, getting the most of this place that I hope, will evolve as it’s planned to be!
Respect the nature surrounding you and ensure to keep it at high standard level! (ALWAYS!)

‘‘TO: my 1-year-old son Boriss
Today was another very hot day. On my way to Bristol Aerospace Museum I was stuck in car traffic for an hour, but got here eventually. Today we are celebrating the Great Big Green Week, and there are people doing litter picking at the time of writing you this letter.
I hope that when you will be 20 you will be able to enjoy the sunny weather without overheating, that there will be no traffic jams, because people would travel more sustainably, I hope there will be no litter to pick and that in this time in 20 years you will be sitting in a green grass still eating strawberries, surrounded by bees, squirrels, birds, wildflowers and friendly people.
