EXHIBITION:

INSTRUCTION NOT INCLUDED

aaa

The recent art exhibition, "Instruction Not Included," showcased the powerful and diverse perspectives of over 70 women artists who used pre-loved swimsuits as their unconventional canvas. Each piece was a testament to the artists' reflections on aging, embodying themes of resilience, transformation, and beauty in the face of time. The swimsuits, once symbols of youth and vitality, were transformed with an array of materials—ranging from delicate lace and bold paint to intricate beadwork and found objects—demonstrating the limitless scope of creativity. This collective effort not only celebrated the unique journeys of each woman but also challenged societal perceptions of ageing, presenting it as a multifaceted and richly textured experience. The exhibition was a vibrant tapestry of stories, emotions, and identities, each artwork a tribute to the evolving essence of femininity and strength.

Southern Brooks in partnership with Brabazon ran 2 series of creative workshops where a group of local women came together to share their lived experiences and to create an art piece exploring how they feel about ageing.
