A group of performers from the Natural Theatre Company came together to relive the lives of some of the Filton Airfields most iconic residents and workers. Southern Brooks in partnership with Brabazon took part by organising a neighbourhood visioning workshop for children, where they shared some amazing and creative ideas for the future of Brabazon! We shared the tent with Bristol Archives who added to the brainstorming process and told very interesting fun facts that kids were using in their city planning.
From the conversations with children and their parents, we identified that knowing the history of the place we live increases the sense of belonging and the community pride. The children came up with fantastic and valuable ideas for their dream neighbourhoods, including Candy Geography-History museum, where you can learn about the origins of different sweets, how they are made and how ingredients are resourced; with a taster option too, of course. They thought it would be great to have some interesting history fun facts displayed at the bus stops to make the waiting for bus more fun. And what do you think about going back to horse riding and carriages as the sustainable travel option?
