THE GREAT BIG GREEN WEEK 2024: BUG HOTEL MAKING

aaa

When: 8 - 16 June 2024

Where: Across South Gloucestershire (incl. Brabazon)

The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Communities and individuals across South Gloucestershire took part in a number of activities delivered by Southern Brooks Community Partnerships from recycling masterclasses and litter picking to planting and making bee huts.

Last Sunday, the Southern Brooks team, with a group of enthusiastic little helpers, rolled up their sleeves to take over one of Brabazon’s wildlife corners to build a bug hotel and a number of bee huts to attract different earth bugs and, most importantly, pollinator bees. The idea was very well received, and YTL are keen to dedicate more such green spaces for wildlife in future planning. These wildlife corners could be used for things like a herb garden, community allotment, outdoor education space and more.

What would you like to see in these green spaces? Send your ideas and thoughts to Anna annamalina@southernbrooks.org.uk
