A little Christmas treat to all Brabazon residents was a selection of favourite carols paired with some mulled wine and mince pies.
We were all prepared for a rainy evening, with some umbrellas and 3 gazeboes ready, but luckily it was dry (hurray!). Instead, we had to fight heavy winds (very casual in Brabazon; we wondered whether it was used in favour for plane take offs back in the airfield days). Tables and chairs, gazebos and everything else went flying around as soon as we attempted to put them up. We gave up quickly and headed to the least windiest corner of Brabazon by Hangar 16U. With 3 sturdy upright walls and the dead end road (for now) it has become the favourite street event spot.
With the first sounds of brass that Christmas feeling kicked right in. Kids could join in with their jingle bell candy canes while grown-ups enjoyed a cup of warming mulled wine, home made mince pies, Christmas cakes as well as other slightly more exotic Christmas treats. It was great to see how a traditional Hungarian almond roll (beigli) brought together 2 Hungarians in Brabazon! Food does unite all people :)
Thank you to everyone who participated- brought tables, chairs, gazeboes, heated up the mulled wine, baked Christmas cakes and illuminated the musicians in the dark, and thank you EVERYONE for coming and sharing more great moments with the community. I think this could become a nice tradition.
And, of course, the biggest thanks goes to Bristol Brass Band for the wonderful performance!
